5.12.11.3.2. Connections, IEC function symbols

[Note]Note

In ECAD systems, the link between 3D coordinates and the symbolic representation in 2 dimensions is of crucial importance.

[Note]Note

In the CNS_CP|4|3 (Electrical Connection ) class, the physical pins are linked with the logical pins from the circuit diagram so that the work of manual linking is saved for appropriately classified components.

Components can contain sub-components (=functions). This connection (function group/functions) is mainly conveyed within the framework of eCl@ss Advanced and thus also the CNS classification via class CNS_CP|4|3 (Electrical Connection ) -> Feature Connection EclassSymbolMap. With this information, an ECAD system can automatically distribute the equivalent subcomponents under certain circumstances in such a way that connection lengths are optimized.

The classification process is described below using Phoenix Relaisklemme mit der Best.-Nr. 2964500:

  1. Set the connection points [Connection points] in PARTdesigner accordingly.

    Connection points ..CP_11 to ..CP_15

    Connection points ..CP_11 to ..CP_15

  2. Assign the connection points to class CNS_CP|4|3 (Electrical Connection ) and assign a name and an identifier.

    Name and Identifier

    Name and Identifier

    The identifier (shown here in Figure 3.1) was assigned in the same way as in eCl@ss.

    Connection identifier 3.1

    Connection identifier 3.1

    The name (in this figure 12) has been assigned analogously to the circuit diagram.

  3. Use the Connection EclassSymbolMap feature to determine the symbol to be used (function identifier), the function and the pin number.

    In this example, Connection EclassSymbolMap has the value "S00230||2||1

    In this example, Connection EclassSymbolMap has the value "S00230||2||1

    The syntax of the Connection EclassSymbolMap feature is as follows:

    Funktionskennung || Funktionsnummer || Pin-Nr.

    For a correct classifying the respective string needs to be found. Following example shows function number 2 and pin number 1.

    Example:

    S00230           ||       2         ||   1

    The function code S00230 complies with a changeover .[52]

    [Note]Note

    The indices of Connection EclassSymbolMap start at 1 (not 0).

    [Note]Note

    Carry out the classification carefully so that errors are avoided. The corresponding interfaces have no way of checking the correctness of the entries in the Connection EclassSymbolMap feature.
