7.9.6.2.  Rotation axis

A rotation axis [Rotation axis] is a prerequisite for the rotation of the 2D sketch (context menu command Rotate [Rotate...]...). If this has not yet been defined in the Sketcher, the following error message appears when the Rotate [Rotate...]... command is called up. command, the following error message appears.

The rotation axis [Rotation axis] is shown as a dashed line in the 3D view of the sketch.

  1. Right-click on the line/edge which you want to define as the rotation axis.

    -> The corresponding context menu opens.

  2. Select the Attributes -> Rotation axis command.

    -> The line/edge initially marked in red then appears as a dot-dash axis and a corresponding icon is displayed in the sketch history [Sketch history] next to the feature containing the rotation axis.

  3. Apply this change by clicking on the Sketch OK button.

    -> The 2D Sketcher is closed.

    The rotation axis [Rotation axis] is now also visible in the 3D view.
